There is much written about whether an app should be free or whether you should pay for it.
We looked carefully at our business plan when we started GoHiiT and we wanted to bring people a quality product. We considered the free exercise apps out there on the market and found two resounding trends – free exercise apps are either:-
Personally I hate it when I down load a free app and either I can’t use it because the features I downloaded it for you have to purchase, or you get hit with a load of advertising.
Now, don’t get me wrong – there is nothing wrong with advertising. Advertising allows us free TV, free radio, and free apps!! I remember recently Kanye West being in the news as he was complaining about advertising on apps he had downloaded for his little girl. Kanye West can afford to pay a couple of bucks for an app I am sure!! If he doesn’t like the advertising there is a very simple fix!! My radio station was talking about it and also thought advertising on apps was a bad thing and I thought HELLO advertising is what pays your salary!! However I can see what they were saying – it isn’t HONEST.
Let’s face it the old sayings of “you don’t get something for nothing” and “you get what you pay for” are usually true.
So maybe we need to reverse the trend of expecting apps to be free and then complaining that all our apps are crap.
